In August of 1920, #Kemalist forces surrounded the town of Nicaea. Greek men and women were led into the Dormition Church of Nicaea where they were butchered into pieces, while others were led out of Nicaea and slaughtered en masse. Their bodies were later found in wells and caves. Pictured: The Hellenic Army arrived at Nicaea a month after the slaughter. Soldiers were on the verge of being sick when they found the cave where 400 massacred Greek bodies were present.
